1957 Cadillac Fleetwood
"Possum"
I bought this Fleetwood on Sept 19, 2020 after it sat in a barn since the late 1980s with much of the interior disassembled. After getting it home, I put on a set of tires that hold air and found a radiator for it. The engine was frozen at first, but after soaking the cylinders with ATF for a bit, it broke free and turns over. It hasn't been able to start yet, but in the meantime I replaced the fuel tank and sender, and redid the entire brake system with new hardware, cylinders and lines. Unfortunately, this revealed that the power brake booster was bad, so that had to come off and get rebuilt as well.
In December 2021, I installed a new (used) carburetor, poured in some fresh gas, and Possum was able to start! She would not run off the fuel tank, until we figured out the rod that operates the fuel pump was stuck. After some banging we were able to get it to move freely again, and in January 2022 we reassembled the interior, and Possum took her maiden voyage up and down the street! Unfortunately, due to some changes happening in my life, I sold Possum to a father/daughter duo in New York, intent on restoring her.
