1970 Dodge Challenger
I got this 1970 Challenger in April 2014 as a trade for my 1978 Corvette and sold it on April 2015. It was a factory 318 V8 car with a floor shift slap-stick auto. The car ran great when I got it, but a couple days later (as tends to happen) it broke. The starter went out, stranding me, and was a lot of work to replace with removing the aftermarket headers. Even worse, the new starter had to be replaced again shortly after! Then, while driving the car suddenly started to run rough and had trouble accelerating. Adjusting the carburetor didn't help much, and then she developed valve tick. Frustrated and dreading more problems, I put the Challenger up for sale.
After dealing with a couple weeks of tire kickers, I decided to put more work into the Challenger and hope to get more money out of it. Most people complained about the rust, so I got a patch panel and brought it to a body shop specializing in rust repair. Unexpectedly, the owner took a liking to the car and offered to buy it from me.
Unfortunately, the car sat while he got money together. Then his plan changed and he decided to sell the car to a friend. After that didn't work out, he decided to fix the rust and removed the vinyl top in November (which we had agreed not to do). Then he decided he wanted to buy the car again. After a few months of different plans and more stories that I care to remember, he finally paid for half of it in February and paid the remainder in April. It is waiting for a full restoration.
